Burgemeester van Grunsvenplein square, in front of Theater Heerlen, will form the beating heart of Cultura Nova during the entire festival. Alongside being the place to meet, have dinner before the show, and spend some wonderful afternoons, this square is the stage for a range of unique performances and fun children’s shows. Head to the Spiegeltent to enjoy a new performance every evening or watch big interviews and discussions that are broadcast live every day on L1.
As in previous years, we are transforming Festivalplein (‘festival square’) into a temporary urban park where you can take in the festival vibes under one of the canopies or by the fountain. This year’s fresh ideas are from Compagnie DUT (FR) and others, who will create a water park for all ages on the square. We’re also being treated to a visit by the hilarious HOP FROG Fanfare from Belgium. Fancy listening to some fascinating music or visiting some great attractions? Abstractiepark 7090 is where you’ll find it. And with young people from the local asylum seekers’ centre riding around on disco bikes and getting the party started, there’s something happening on Festivalplein every day. The following pages have more information about the programme.
Festivalplein square opens at 12:00 noon on weekends and on Wednesdays and at 2:00 PM on other days.
Park Urbana is being constructed in collaboration with IBA Parkstad.
